What needs to be moved?
Start with the best description of the job: a whole home, an apartment, an office, a store pickup or delivery, a same-building move, furniture, or heavy items. Tell us which belongings need to go to another home, room, or building, and which unwanted furniture or appliances need to be picked up for disposal. If you need both a move and old furniture removal, include both in your moving quote request.

Tell us where the move starts, where it is going, and the date you have in mind. City or ZIP code is enough for the first step.

Are there stairs or an elevator?
Tell us what you know about both places. If you are not sure, a walkthrough video or free in-home estimate can show us what matters.

A Video Can Cover the Details
Start your walkthrough video with the rooms and furniture that need moving, then show the route out: doorways, stairs, an elevator if there is one, and the space around large pieces. Point out furniture you want taken apart, items on another floor, and unwanted pieces for disposal. Send photos or dimensions when a detail is hard to see. Describe access at the destination too; a video of the home you are leaving cannot show the route into the next one. If you do not know a destination detail yet, say what still needs checking. When Will You Get Your Written Quote?
Heavy Friends sends your written quote within three hours after receiving the information needed to price the move or completing the in-home estimate. To compare moving quotes, give each mover the same list of items, pickup and delivery addresses, stairs or elevator details, and any wrapping, disassembly, or disposal tasks. Ask what is included and what would change the quoted price. The quote covers the move and work reviewed. If that work stays the same, the quoted price stays the same. If the work changes, the price may change.
How Do Hourly Prices and Written Job Quotes Compare?
An hourly rate tells you the price for time. It does not tell you the whole moving cost until you know how much time will be charged and what other work or charges are included. Ask when charged time starts and ends, how extra time is handled, and which tasks the estimate includes.
A written job quote gives a price for the items, locations, access and tasks reviewed. Heavy Friends gives one written price for that work. As long as the reviewed work stays the same, the quoted price stays the same. If you add items, change an address or add a task such as old furniture removal, ask for the quote to be reviewed.
Compare the complete job, rather than an hourly rate beside a total job price. Give each mover the same details and ask what would change the price. A lower-looking number may describe less work.
