01
Separate What Moves from What Goes Away
List the belongings you want moved to the new apartment. Make a separate list of unwanted furniture or appliances you want picked up for disposal. If you need both, include both in the request.
Photos can make the list easier to understand. Add dimensions and weight when you have them, especially for large or heavy pieces.
02
Check Access at Both Apartments
Write down the pickup and delivery addresses, floors, stairs and elevator details. Show the route from the furniture to the way out, and describe the route into the new apartment too.
A video of your current apartment cannot show the destination. If you have not seen the new carrying route, say what you still need to check rather than guessing.
03
Ask Your Building About Its Moving Rules
Ask the building contact whether there are rules about moving times, elevator use or where a vehicle can stop. Check each building separately and pass along any instructions you receive.
Do not assume that the rules at your current apartment apply at your new one. If a detail is still unknown, tell the mover so it can be discussed before the job.
04
Show the Furniture Tasks You Need
Include furniture that needs wrapping or protection, pieces you want taken apart and put back together, and where you want them placed at the destination. These are tasks Heavy Friends can review with your move.
A walkthrough video can show rooms, furniture, stairs and the space around them. You can also request a free in-home estimate if you would rather show the job in person.
05
Check Your Request Before Moving Day
Review the item list, both addresses, access details, preferred date and tasks together. Tell the mover about any change so the written quote can reflect the current work.
Heavy Friends gives one written price for the work reviewed. If that work stays the same, the price stays the same. Adding furniture, changing the destination or adding removal work may change the quote.
06
On Moving Day, Check the Items and Carrying Route
Before the work starts, check the list against what is actually going. Point out furniture being moved, unwanted pieces being removed, and anything that should stay. Tell the mover if the items or tasks have changed since the quote.
Check the route you described and move loose objects out of the way. Share any new access instructions from the building and any change to stairs or elevator arrangements. You do not need to move a heavy piece yourself to explain where it is.
Decide which room or floor each large piece should go to at the new apartment. Share that placement with the mover before the furniture is carried there. Moving an item to a different floor is work to discuss, rather than assuming it was covered by a request to reach the address.
