01
Can You Move Furniture Without Changing Address?
Yes. You can hire Heavy Friends Movers to move a couch to another room, a dresser to another floor, or furniture between apartments or offices in the same building. The request can cover one piece or several; a full-house move is not required.
One address still leaves two places to describe: where each item starts and where it should end up. That helps us review the carrying route and the tasks you want included, even when the furniture never leaves the building.
02
Describe the Starting Place and Final Spot
List each piece, how many you want moved, and its starting room and floor. Add the destination room and floor and where you want it placed. Include apartment or office numbers when they help identify the two spaces.
For example, moving a dresser from a bedroom to a study on the same floor is a different request from moving that dresser from an upstairs bedroom to a ground-floor room. In the second example, say which room it should reach and where you want it placed, rather than stopping at “downstairs.” These are examples of details to share, not descriptions of past jobs.
Send photos of the pieces and include dimensions and weight when you know them. A photo helps show the item; the count tells us whether that photo represents one chair or several. If a size or weight is unknown, say so.
03
Show Stairs, Elevators and the Carrying Route
Describe the route from the starting spot to the final spot, including stairs or elevators along the way. Photos or a walkthrough video can show the rooms, doorways, hallways and turns between them. Include access details at both ends, even when they share an address.
If a doorway looks narrow or you are unsure about part of the route, show it and explain what you know. Photos and measurements give us details to review; they do not confirm that a piece will fit.
For an apartment or office building, share any moving instructions you have received, such as elevator arrangements or access times. If you have not checked an elevator or destination room, flag that in your request so the quote does not rely on an assumed route.
04
Which Furniture Tasks Belong in the Quote?
Heavy Friends Movers can wrap and protect furniture, disassemble and reassemble it, carry it up or down stairs, and place it where you want it. Tell us which tasks you need for each piece so we can include the reviewed work in your written quote.
For example, if you want a bed taken apart in one room and put back together in another, describe both tasks. Do not assume that every piece needs the same work. Photos and your task list help make the request clear.
List unwanted items for disposal separately from furniture you are keeping. Moving a couch to another room and taking an old couch away are different requests. If you need both, identify which couch is moving and which one is being removed.
05
Request a Written Quote for the Reviewed Work
Heavy Friends Movers serves a confirmed 30-mile area from its Alexandria base, including parts of Virginia, Washington, DC, and Maryland. Share the exact building address so we can confirm coverage, along with the items, both rooms or floors, access details, requested tasks and preferred date.
Estimates are free. Send photos or a walkthrough video for a home or office move. For a residential move, you can also request a free in-home estimate. We send your written moving quote within three hours after receiving the information needed to price the move or completing the residential in-home estimate.
The written price covers the reviewed items, starting and final locations, access and tasks. If that work stays the same, the price stays the same. Added pieces, a different final floor, changed elevator access or extra tasks may change the quote, so tell us about changes before the work begins.
Use the quote request to share your details and preferred visit time. A preferred time is a request for review, not a confirmed appointment, and the form does not produce an instant quote.
